Installation of the wind and precipitation isolation sheeting begins to help protect workers during winter months.

System Readiness Work
Progress continues on the commissioning and start-up phases of the Carbon Capture Project. System readiness activities already completed or currently in process include:

  • Testing of valves and pumps.
  • Calibrating instrumentation.
  • Verifying signals from process controls to field instrumentation.
  • Performing pre-operational water flushes and system integrity checks.

Winter Measures
Plastic sheeting has been installed on the structural steelwork of the Chilled Ammonia Carbon Capture pilot system to serve as a wind and precipitation isolation shield. During the coldest winter months, this shield will help protect construction workers assembling and testing process equipment. Once construction is complete, the weather sheets will be removed.

This first-ever, field test is innovative and we look forward to the upcoming project start-up in 2008.
