Steel and Component Installation
Significant progress is being made on the support structure and equipment. The steelwork on the top level of the support structure was finished mid-September, and most of the steel walkway decking and hand rails have been installed on all three access levels.
Currently, process columns are being assembled outside the structure. Once assembled, they will be lifted into their final location, along with necessary tanks. Pumps, process components, and interconnected piping are being installed as well in parallel with electrical cable runs and power distribution cabinets.
Deliveries for components, piping, and cable trays have been on schedule, and weather delays have been minimal.
Flue Gas Supply
The flue gas supply and return piping is being run from the Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) Scrubber discharge duct out into the side of the plant stack. The flue gas will be run vertically now to a location where it will tie into the equipment connections on the Carbon Capture Project pilot system components.
The flue gas supply is required for carbon capture process testing and evaluation. This new chilled ammonia technology has the potential to capture up to 90 percent of the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from a coal-fueled generating facility.
