Moving (Residential Only)
To make changes to your energy service, you must be a We Energies customer. If you are unsure, check a recent bill.

Starting Service

To start service at an existing address, call 800-242-9137 and ask about Connection Services to help you set up phone, cable and other services.

Stopping or Transferring Service
Eligibility for Stop or Transfer Service

To be eligible for online stop or transfer, you must be:

  • An existing We Energies residential customer with an account number.
  • A residential homeowner or renter requesting either to stop service or to transfer service from one address to another in the We Energies service territory.
  • Current with your payments.

You must have your account number to use this service. We can only accept a stop service request from the customer of record.

Stopping Service
If you are moving out of our service area and need to stop electricity and/or natural gas service, contact us at least 2 business days (Monday-Friday) before you want the service turned off. If you need faster service, call 800-242-9137 to see if service can be expedited.

Transferring Service
If you are moving within our service area, we can transfer your electric and/or natural gas service by stopping service at one address and starting it at the new one.

  • If you are transferring service to an existing building already wired for service, contact us at least 2 business days (Monday-Friday) before you want the service transferred. If you need faster service, call 800-242-9137 to see if service can be expedited.
  • If you are transferring service to new construction or a new building that has never had our service before, call 800-242-9137.

New Construction or New Building
If you are building and want electric or natural gas service provided to a location that does not currently have service, call 800-242-9137.
